Swimming with your dog at lakes
Guests spending their holiday with their dog naturally want to discover the beautiful lakes and swimming spots in the surrounding area. However, regulations for dogs vary from lake to lake. To help you plan your excursions with ease, we have summarised the most important information for you:
- Montiggler Seen/Lakes – The two lakes are popular destinations for walks and relaxing in beautiful natural surroundings. From May to September, dogs are not allowed at the lakes. Outside this period, they can once again be a pleasant destination for an excursion with your dog.
- Lake Kaltern– Special regulations apply around the famous Lake Caldaro: dogs are not allowed all year round, mainly for hygiene reasons. Please take this into account when planning a day at the lake with your dog.
- Lake Fennberger – The idyllic Lake Fennberger is a protected lake and is subject to special nature conservation regulations. For this reason, dogs are not allowed all year round. The lake is nevertheless a wonderful destination for a peaceful walk surrounded by nature.
- Lake Göller – The small Lake Göller near Aldino is a beautiful destination for nature lovers. From May to September, dogs are not allowed. Outside the bathing season, the lake can be visited with your dog.
- Lago Santo – At Lago Santo, dogs are generally allowed. Please note, however, that dogs must be kept on a lead in many areas.
Swimming with your dog: Swimming with dogs is permitted at some lakes in South Tyrol, including Lake Antholz, Lake Gioveretto in Martell Valley, Lake Reschen and Lake Zoccolo in Ultimo Valley. Please always pay attention to the signs on site and any applicable leash regulations. As regulations may change depending on the season, we recommend checking the current rules before setting off on your excursion.
