Author's tip
Combine your visit to Engadiner Wines with a walk through Montagna and the surrounding vineyards. The landscape around Gleno is particularly beautiful – the perfect setting to discover the wines right where their grapes are grown.
The Engadiner Wines winery in Glen, in the municipality of Montan, is a remarkable example of a young and dynamic wine estate, which began producing its own wine in 2021. Behind the brand is the Zelger family, who turned their passion for nature, agriculture, and wine into a profession.
The winery operates in two geographical locations, reflecting the diversity of its wines. In Glen, at 650 meters above sea level in the southern part of South Tyrol, the family primarily cultivates Pinot Noir. Here, the strong temperature variations between day and night contribute to producing fresh and elegant wines.
The second location is in Auer, where the porphyry-rich soils and warmer temperatures provide optimal conditions for growing Lagrein. In addition to these two main varieties, they also produce a Kerner, which, like the other wines, reflects the terroir and the Zelger family's unique approach to winemaking.
Engadiner Wines places great importance on crafting wines that are true to their terroir and varietal character, standing out for their authenticity and unique personality.
Short description
"Young & fresh" is the best way to describe us. We've turned our hobby into a profession. We live our passion for nature and agriculture.
Parking
Parking spaces are available directly at Engadinerhof.
Description to arrive at destination
Coming from Bolzano, take the A22 motorway south and exit at Egna/Ora. Then follow the road towards Ora and Montagna. Drive through the centre of Montagna and continue towards Gleno. After about 3.5 km, you will reach a junction. Turn right and then follow the access road to Engadinerhof. Engadiner Wines is located at Gleno 62.
Public transport
Montagna can be reached from Bolzano by public transport. From Montagna, continue towards Gleno. As Engadinerhof is located outside the village centre, we recommend checking Südtirolmobil for the best connection and the final walking section before travelling.
Winery tours and tastings are available upon request.:
