Travelling through the holiday region Bolzano and environs it is soon obvious: this is a true wine region! The landscape is characterised by grapes that are grown on pergolas or trellises. Hard-working farmers tend their vineyards with great passion - and have done so for generations. Here, being a wine-grower is not a job, but a vocation. The village is also shaped by the wine culture: traditional wineries with deep cellars, tractors on the roads, farmers with blue aprons, bars where men meet for a chat over a glass of wine.

A journey of discovery through South Tyrol’s varied wine region along the South Tyrolean wine route is highly recommended. All around Bolzano ripen the velvety-strong St. Magdalener and the characterful Lagrein grapes. Taste exquisite white wines in Oltradige and in Val d’Adige and discover the well-known Kalterer See again. Pinot Noir and the delicately aromatic Gewürztraminer are grown in Bassa Atesina.
