San Genesio
San Genesio and Salto
Bolzano’s sun terrace. Salto - an oasis of nature. Haflinger horses.
The village of San Genesio on Monzoccolo is a sunny terrace above Bolzano with panoramic views of the Dolomites. From Bolzano to San Genesio is only an 8 minute cable car ride. West of San Genesio is Salto, Europe’s largest larch high plateau. Salto invites to hikes, cycling tours and hacks on Haflinger horses. There are plenty of Haflingers in the riding stables of San Genesio and surrounding area! Monzoccolo happens to be the home of these blonde horses.
San Genesio ropeway and Salto
At the entrance to Val Sarentino, not far from Castel Roncolo, is the ropeway to San Genesio. On the high plateau you can enjoy stunning views of the Dolomites. The larch woods are particularly worth seeing. There are tempting hiking trails, bike tours and hacks.
