400 meters deep and eight kilometres long, the tiny Bletterbach stream persistently worked its way through all rock strata for 15,000 years and uncovered 250 million years of geological history.
The canyon it created awaits visitors with an active journey through time to the dinosaurs and primeval reptiles: Millions of years old stones, traces of dinosaurs, well preserved imprints of parts of plants, numerous traces of feeding and burrowing, as well as marine deposits such as mussels, snails and cephalopods that lived here millions of years ago in the tropical seas of the Dolomites, all create a sense of excitement about the colourful history of the world.
