Cultural highlights in Termeno

On Shrove Tuesday in uneven years Egetmann and his Wedding party parade through Termeno. The Egetmann parade in Termeno is one of the oldest, most curious and most lively carnival traditions that still exist in Tyrol. An application for recognition as Unesco World Heritage is pending. It is impossible to describe the parade - you have to experience it!

The Termeno Hoamet museum of local history engages with contemporary history, winegrowing, Carnival, domestic life, crafts, geology and archaeology. Two of the highlights are a large historic exhibition of Gewürztraminers from all over the world and a 240 million year old footprint of an archosaur.

The Termeno churches are veritable monuments of art. The San Giacomo church in Kastelaz houses a widely known Romanesque cycle of frescoes. The parish church, San Valentino’s church and San Maurizio’s church are also decorated with valuable Romanesque and Gothic frescoes.
