The wine villages along the South Tyrolean wine route enchant with a very special flair and their own building style, the Oltradige style. In the 16th and 17th century the wineries and country houses growing up in the South of Bolzano united elements of German Gothic and Italian Renaissance: oriels, loggias, double arch windows, outside stairs.

Recently, a new wind has started to blow in the wine villages. Modern architecture and contemporary building styles have arrived and also changed winery architecture. Wine is en vogue, also with young people, and the architecture of the presentation rooms of the wineries had to keep up.
