18/10 - 20/10/2019: Merano grapes festival
Since 1886 the third weekend in October the streets and Piazzas of Merano have been given over to the Merano grapes festival. It is the oldest harvest festival in South Tyrol. For three days Merano is all about ancient customs, music and traditional food.
The traditional high point of the festival is a Sunday parade of decorated floats through the alleys of the city. The colourful parade runs from Porta Venosta through the historic centre and the Passeggiata Lungo Passirio and is accompanied by music bands, folk dancing groups, fanfares and brass bands as well as guilds for traditional costumes from South Tyrol, Germany, Switzerland and Trentino. On the grape festival market on the Passeggiata Lungo Passirio you find food stalls and regional products.
