Bolzano’s landscape has always been characterised by winegrowing. Vines cover the hills and mountains up to an altitude of approx. 700 m and give the many steep mountainsides and slopes their unmistakable character. With just over 700 ha of vineyards Bolzano is the third largest winegrowing municipality in South Tyrol, superseded only by Appiano (approx. 1000 ha) and Caldaro (800 ha). It is one of Europe’s largest wine producing cities. As a wine growing town Bolzano has many trump cards: an incomparable landscape, excellent vineyard locations and busy wine growers and wine makers who produce top quality wines.
